Eagle Bank Announces New Officers

Eagle Bank was established July 24, 2006 with only one branch in rural Polson, Montana.  The current asset size averages $45 million.  Our bank holding company, Salish and Kootenai Bancorporation, is the only federally chartered bank holding company organized under Section 17 of the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934.  Eagle Bank, chartered by the State of Montana, is one of only nine banks recognized by the FDIC as being owned by an individual Native American Tribe.

Following the Annual Meeting of Shareholders of Eagle Bank, the Board announced the pending retirement of Martin M. Olsson, President, CEO and the recent addition of three officers.

Martin will retire March 31, 2015, and has agreed to continue on a semi-retired position until November.  Martin began his banking career in 1974 at the First State Bank of Forsyth, and over the years worked at Farmers State Bank of Victor, First State Bank of Thompson Falls, Liberty County Bank of Chester, and Ronan State Bank.  In 1997 he organized Olsson Consulting, Inc. and provided credit and management consulting for a variety of clients, including serving as Interim Executive Director of Montana Community Finance.  In 2003 the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes retained Martin to organize and charter Eagle Bank, and he has served as President/CEO since the bank opened in July of 2006.

Andrew West joined Eagle Bank in January of 2015, and will become the President/CEO upon Martin’s retirement.  Andrew graduated from the University of Montana with a B.S. in Business, emphasis in Accounting.   He worked for Wells Fargo for two years before joining Valley Bank of Ronan as the Branch Manager of Valley Bank of Arlee.   He remained with Valley Bank of Arlee for 10 years.  During this time he attended and graduated from Pacific Coast School of Banking.  In April of 2012, Andrew went to work for Community Bank, Inc. in Missoula, Montana as a Vice President/Commercial Loan Officer.   He worked there until joining us at Eagle Bank.   Andrew lives in Arlee, Montana and has one daughter.  He is an avid horseman and outdoorsman in his free time.

Angie Eagle-Thomas joined Eagle Bank in December of 2014 and serves as the Chief Operating Officer.  Angie brings 30 years of banking experience to our team.  She is a 2008 Library Honor Graduate for the University of Washington’s Pacific Coast Banking School.  Her last position was, Senior Vice President Business Banking Manager for Nevada State Bank, Elko NV.  Angie and her husband relocated to Polson, MT in 2012 in order to be closer to family.  She enjoys dedicating her free time to her local church.

Jesse Strang joined Eagle Bank in July of 2014 and serves as a Vice President with Commercial, Ag, and Consumer lending responsibilities.   He brings yet another proud Griz fan to our Eagle Bank team.  Jesse graduated from the University of Montana in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Before pursuing his education, Jesse served in the US Armed Forces in Fort Benning, Georgia.  He comes to Eagle Bank with 12 years of banking experience from Bank of America, US Bank and Missoula Federal Credit Union.

With a background in accounting, Jolene Houle started her banking career with Eagle Bank in May 2008.  She is currently the AVP – Finance.  She graduated in 2000 from the University of Montana with a B.S. in Business, emphasis in Accounting. Yes, another Griz!  She obtained a MBA from Gonzaga University and is currently attending Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado.  Jolene’s favorite pastime is camping with her family.

Geri Herreid joined Eagle Bank in June 2011.  She serves as AVP – Consumer Lending.  Geri comes to us with 28 years of valuable experience in our local banking community.  She has maintained numerous roles in both operations and lending.

Tom joined Eagle Bank in October of 2012 and serves as VP – Mortgage Lending.    Tom moved to the Flathead Valley with his wife of 20 years and their two sons. He has 15 years banking experience in the field of residential mortgage lending both as a loan originator and bank manager. Tom also served in the capacity of a commercial/small business banker for Regions bank in Nashville, TN for six years, assisting small business owners with their lending and operational needs. Tom’s interests include fishing, performing music with his sons, and enjoying the outdoors.
